Weber’s Basketball Program comes to The Eastern Shore

The award-winning Weber’s Bulldog Basketball program is excited to announce two clinics for children to be held at the soon-to-be-expanded The Edge Training Academy in Stevensville this June.

Owner and local resident, Bill Weber, has successfully operated a basketball day camp in Annapolis for over twenty years and said, “It has always been a dream of mine to hold a camp on this side of the bridge and teach basketball in the community where I am proud to be raising a family.”  Weber’s Basketball was just named 2018’s “Best Sports Camp” by readers of The Capital, edging out popular programs at both the Naval Academy and St. Mary’s.

Coach Weber works full-time as an Assistant Principal in Anne Arundel County and said between his day job, coaching his son’s teams with QAC Park & Rec and running an extremely popular Annapolis summer camp, he hasn’t had time develop his own basketball program here on the Shore.  That’s why he jumped at the opportunity to work with The Edge, saying, “I’ve seen the great things The Edge has done for lacrosse, soccer rec leagues, etc. and always hoped they’d add the same type of facility for a full-scale basketball program.”

This winter, Weber coached his son’s 7&U team to an undefeated season with QAC Park & Rec

Bobby Wooley, founder and executive director of the Edge Training Academy and the Edge Arena, echoed Weber’s sentiments and said, “Basketball has always been a part of the business in the way of personal training of athletes to improve their athletic abilities.  We felt it was necessary to be able to afford these athletes a home to hone their physical skills and that made adding a sport court the obvious answer. “

Weber feels the timing of his partnership with The Edge is perfect because, “My 8-year-old is totally obsessed with all things basketball right now. So, to be able to play year-round now at this amazing facility is going to be a dream come true for him.” Added Wooley, “Weber’s has a great reputation.  We are attracted to this with all sports organizations.  The ones that exemplify their care for the student athletes with everything that they do.  Weber’s runs on the same wavelength as The Edge and we welcome them to share the space as a mutual breeding ground for success.”

In addition to the two week-long clinics being offered at The Edge Academy in June, Coach Weber will still be operating his day camp at Annapolis Area Christian school in July. He hopes the Kent Island program will spawn more basketball clinics in the Fall, when kids are seeking to hone their skills before the start of the rec season. “We’ve always had a good number of kids from the Shore travel to Annapolis for the day camp, so I know parents will appreciate us giving them the option to stay close to home.”

Weber’s Bulldog Basketball at The Edge Training Academy is open to boys and girls ages 6-14, all skill levels welcome. Space is limited and parents can register online at https://www.theedgetrainingacademy.com/youth-training.
